Installing Our Drapes:

Most of our hire-stock drapes have ties along the top, at approx. 30cm spacing, and a pocket along the bottom. (See our Resources page for help on how to tie them on properly)

Fullness: (Ruching/Gather)

Most of our hire-stock drapes are flat until you tie them on with the required amount of fullness. This means, for example, if you need to cover an area that is 10ft wide, you’ll need 15ft of drape-width to cover it, hung with 50% fullness. (See our Resources page for more information about fullness)

Wool Serge Drapes:

In the world of theatrical drapes, Inherently Flame Retardant (IFR) Black Wool Serge Drapes reign as the reliable workhorse, prized for their practicality and safety. These drapes, in addition to their flame-retardant nature, boast exceptional acoustic properties, making them indispensable for productions or events where sound quality is crucial, or where noise is a concern. Their understated elegance and durability create a versatile backdrop, enhancing performances without overshadowing them. From framing scenes to optimizing acoustics, these drapes strike the perfect balance between functionality and simplicity, earning their reputation as an essential component of any set-up. We even stock some Coloured Wool Serge Drapes too.

Wool Serge fabric comes in 1.5m/5ft wide panels, so the Wool Serge Drapes tend to come in widths that are multiples of 5ft, with 20ft wide being the most common width used to make up longer runs. We stock Black Wool Serge Drapes from 1ft drop right up to 40ft drop, in various widths.

Velvet Drapes:

We stock one of the best selections of colours of Velvet Drapes you’ll find anywhere in the UK. Some of our prized velvet stock, acquired over many years, can no longer be purchased. Whether it’s theming an event, or designing a set, we’re confident you’ll find we have plenty of options to inspire you.

Velvet Fabric comes in 1.2m/4ft wide panels, so the Velvet Drapes tend to come in widths that are mutiples of 4ft, with 20ft wide being the most common width used to make up longer runs. We stock Velvet Drapes from 1ft drop right up to 30ft drop. Velvet Drapes are hung with fullness, usually around 50%, but sometimes 75% or even 100% fullness, depending on aesthetic requirements.
